Our Family Photos!!!

I called up my good friend Sarah Knight, and said “Are you available any time over the next 3 days?” It was a Thursday, and I knew that the fair ended on Sunday. My actions were totally and completely last minute. She said “Yes! The only time I’m available is tonight.” “Let’s do it!” I said.

Did I wait until I was 10 lbs thinner? Nope. Quite the contrary actually. I’m 23 weeks pregnant!

Did I rush out and buy new outfits for everyone? Nope. We wore what we had.

Did I even get my roots done (that are like an inch long) or get my brows waxed? Nope.

Did I get new Make up and shoes that coordinate perfectly with our outfits? Nope. I wish!

But am I going to cherish these precious photos forever and ever? YES!

My point I’m making is, I didn’t want to wait until everything was “perfect” in my life to have photos taken. If you wait until xyz to happen, you might not ever get it done. Our family grows, evolves, and changes every day. I didn’t want to miss this unique stage in our life. There will never be another like it, ever! I’m so thankful I have these photos to cherish forever, (and I even got my Christmas card done…in September! Wahoo!) And I’m so thankful for Sarah and her willingness to do these so last minute! Without further-ado, here are our family photos taken by the wonderful, sweet, kind, and talented Sarah Knight.

 

As a photography client (a role I’m not too familiar with cause I’m usually on the other side of the camera), I tried to follow my own advice I give to clients with young kids which is “Try not to stress before or during your session. If you stress, your kids will feel your stress, and their likeliness to cooperate goes down.” And boy oh boy there were a couple instances where I could have stressed. 1. We fed Claire BBQ chicken with BBQ sauce at the fair when we got there because a hungry Claire is not a happy Claire. BBQ sauce? That could have been a disaster! 2. Half way through the session, she started throwing dirt at us, and smearing dirt it all over her shirt, along with putting hay in her hair!! I had two choices a: I could get upset and scold her, potentially ruining the entire mood of the evening. Or b. Take a deep breath, and then another, and just let it be. I chose the latter, and she had a lot of fun, and everything turned out OK. 🙂

These next three photos absolutely crack me up! Claire is unknowingly torturing Brant by gouging his eyes out, she has zero clue and is having the time of her life! haha
