NBC Studio 5: Christmas Card ideas + Minted Giveaway
I was featured on our local NBC affiliate program called Studio 5. You can view my segment talking about Christmas Cards by clicking HERE!
My initial ideas for Christmas Card photo shoots/ideas were pretty elaborate and complex. I had visions of sugarplums, tinsel, Christmas trees, lights, glitter and other elaborate set ups. But then as I was thinking about it further, I realized that the holidays are pretty darn hectic and overwhelming for most people. I even went to the extent of doing a glitter photo shoot with lights and glitter throwing but then realized that a set up like that could be complicated and complex, plus technically difficult camera-wise. I needed simpler than that. So I wanted to do something unique, yet very do-able for the average family to pull off with ease.
The more I thought about it, I realized that most likely everyone’s favorite part of the holidays is the Christmas music that fills our homes, cars, and hearts! So I based my ideas off of Christmas/Holiday songs. I used lyrics as an inspiration for each card.
I teamed up with the greeting card company Minted for the designs and they really pulled through for me. I had such a hard time narrowing them down because they had so many designs I fell in love with!
“Sleep in Heavenly Peace”
The set up: In home lifestyle family shoot. This family’s style is cozy casual. You could even take the coziness up a notch and be in your Christmas PJs.
Let it Snow!
The set up: Make the family look like a snowflake! This works great for family’s with older kids
“Let your heart be light”
The set up: Take a photo of those with light hearts! I don’t think it’s as much the photo, I love the message. The truth is, sometimes people have heavy hearts during the holidays due to missing family, feeling overwhelmed, or just the plain ol’ winter blues. I think “Let your heart be light” is such a sweet greeting of love.
“Laughing all the way!”
Set up: It’s not the first time you’ve heard me say that I think people look their best when they’re laughing. All you need for this one is a photo of your family having a great time! The holidays are filled with memories of family, love, and laughter.
“Baby it’s cold outside”
The set up: I was going for a cozy, date night in type feel. There’s nothing quite as romantic as snuggling up with your loved one next to the fire with cocoa. “I really can’t stay, but baby it’s cold outside”. This concept works great for those who are newly married, married without kids, and especially empty nesters.
“Walking in a winter wonderland”
Set up: Take a photo in the snow! The snow is so flattering on skin tones, it’s like an instant beauty fix and I love it! There’s something so magical about the snow too. Trust me, you won’t remember that you were cold. Although we couldn’t fit the words “walking in a winter wonderland” on this card, I couldn’t help but choose this card because it can be turned into a Christmas ornament!
